WANG Keren: Born in 1993 in Anhui, she holds a master’s degree in Product Design from the Royal College of Art in the UK. She has been dedicated to the development of ceramic techniques and their applications in sustainable practices.

ZHANG Zhekai: Born in 1993 in Zhejiang, he holds a master’s degree in Product Design from the Royal College of Art in the UK. His research focuses primarily on finding new practical pathways that combine craftsmanship development with industrial production.

Studio KAE is a product design studio focused on craft innovation and interdisciplinary research. Its works often deviate from human-centered design, bringing form aesthetics and functional attributes back to the essence of the material itself. Through exploring different materials and cultural contexts, Studio KAE seeks to find new semantics for objects within the rational deconstruction and emotional reconstruction.

我们的设计灵感来源于自然界的色彩变幻和物体运动规律启发。在我们看来，自洽地减少人为干预，能让作品更真实地展现本质的美感，从而达到与人的情感呼应。

从扎染实验到转印着色；从织物探索到瓷土成形。我们尝试用跨界的设计角度看待手工艺在后工业时代的转变和融合。

扎染作为古代染色工艺之一被广泛用于衣着服饰，为了使扎染具有更多的功能性，我们尝试让陶瓷作为布艺的载体，通过织物扎染后留下的褶皱形成的自然秩序感体现到陶瓷坯体表面；同时织物颜色的晕染到粘土表面上的微妙变化又能让人自然地联想到东方水墨画。

同时为了让陶瓷拥有自然的形体表达，我们用设计的坐具将两者集成一起。坐椅的形体表现上再保证舒适性的基础上，遵循材料的属性，曲面和弧度皆由陶瓷高温软化后自然形成。
